Difficile de progresser dans sa généalogie quand on a des ancêtres en Allemagne : les recherches via les archives sont souvent longues et coûteuses (facturation des actes et des heures de recherche), et les registres en ligne sont peu nombreux contrairement à la France… J’ai néanmoins découvert que certaines communes de Sarre ont publié gratuitement une partie de leurs archives sur FamilySearch, le site de généalogie des « mormons ». Ce sont visiblement des décisions prises commune par commune, mais j’ai eu la chance de trouver plusieurs dizaines d’actes concernant mes ancêtres dans les villages sarrois suivants : Altheim, Auersmacher, Biesingen, Blieskastel, Bliesransbach, Dudweiler, Geislautern, Habkirchen, Heusweiler, Niedergailbach, Ottweiler, Reinheim, St Johann.

Voici comment procéder sur le site FamilySearch. Si vous avez un compte, identifiez-vous, ou créez en un gratuitement. Ensuite rendez-vous dans Rechercher > Catalogue, et saisissez le nom de la commune que vous recherchez. Par exemple ici « Reinheim ».

FamilySearch vous affiche sur la page de résultat l’ensemble des archives en leur possession sur Reinheim. On trouve ici un registre paroissial de 1681 à 1960, tenu par l’église catholique de Reinheim, et deux registres d’Etat-Civil.

En sélectionnant le registre paroissial, j’arrive sur une page qui décrit précisément cette archive. Celle-ci et composée de 3 microfilms, créés à l’époque par The Genealogical Society of Utah (plus connue sous le nom « les mormons ») en 1961 ! Et coup de chance, le premier de ces microfilms pour la période 1681-1880 est disponible en numérique gratuitement sur le site, celà se voit au picto appareil photo. Les deux autres sont consultables uniquement au format microfilm… dans la Family History Library de Salt Lake City… Parfois certains sont réservés uniquement aux membres de l’Église de Jésus-Christ des Saints Des Derniers Jours ! (si vous en connaissez je veux bien emprunter un login 🙂

En cliquant sur l’appareil photo, on accède au microfilm entièrement numérisé (ici 607 écrans).

Et on peut consulter de chez soi, des actes allemands de plus de 330 ans, microfilmés sur place par les mormons de l’Utah dans les années 60, et diffusés de nos jours sur Internet… L’interface est ultra simple, les pages s’affichent rapidement, et il est possible de télécharger une image de chaque écran, ou de l’ajouter à l’arbre familial si vous en avez créé un sur FamilySearch.
